Day Before I Start

So here goes, a blog in the hopes that making my progress public, and the pressure to not look like a quitter to the entire world, will make me stick to the plan!

I have always felt unhappy with the way I look, but then, hasn't almost everyone? For years I have weighed 12 stone, which at my 5"7 height classed me as overweight. Well, in September I moved house to live alone. Since moving I put on a stone without even really realising it. One day I was standing in front of the mirror and noticed quite how chubby my face had gotten. I was horrified. This is it, I thought, no more!!

Someone I know has recently started the Atkins diet, and is seeing really good results. Well, might as well have a go! I know that isn't the attitude they want you to have when starting a new "lifestyle" (as of course all diets are now called lifestyles...), but hey, what are they going to do about it?

So I've spent the last few days researching the diet and planning a weeks worth of meals (all meat and veg, no fruit, milk, bread, pasta, sweets, chocolate etc!). This process was really quite stressful for me as I am a very fussy eater. Half the food on the meal plan they have provided I really dont like - cabbage stew, no thanks! Eventually though I put together my own meal plan that I was happy with. Each day, at least for the start, I'll post up what I ate through the day, and I'll be completely honest, cross my heart and hope to die (which I probably will do if I don't start doing something about my weight!)
